Western District Hockey Club is thrilled to announce that CDC Data Centres (CDC) will be the club’s new Major sponsor for the next 3 years!
We are very excited to be aligned with a hugely successful local business who have an enviable track record of supporting the Canberra community. At Wests we share this value of community and look forward to building our partnership with CDC over the coming years.
This partnership is significant in helping us to attain our club vision for the future:
- Develop and maintain the most professional men’s hockey program in Canberra
- Invest in junior hockey to make it an accessible and enjoyable sport for all
- Strengthen, develop and maintain the women’s side of the club to have a presence again in CL1 within 5 years
With CDC’s support, we will have a new coaching set up with an overarching club head coach for the 2025 season. This role will oversee all senior coaching as well as being responsible for the men’s Capital League 1 team.
We are also focusing on building our women’s sides by appointing a CL2 coach and entering a CL2 women’s team for the 2025 season to attract new and former players back to the club. The club is aiming to have both CL1 and CL2 women’s teams by 2030 – even with the backing of CDC, there is still a lot of work and commitment involved in achieving that objective, so we really need everyone to support us on the path back to Wests Women having a strong CL presence.
We look forward to announcing our CL coaches over the next few weeks.
As part of the sponsorship, we can now provide a set of playing shirts for every junior and senior team, with the possibility of extending that to include shorts/skorts. This ensures purchasing of uniforms is not an additional expense for families each season. There will be an option to purchase your own items if you do not wish to wear a shared team kit item.
We are currently settling the design of the new uniform and will submit orders mid-January to ensure uniforms arrive in time for the start of the senior competition in March. To assist with orders, we need to know who will be returning to play this season along with sizing by 16 January 2025.
We appreciate this is a difficult time of year and the deadline is pretty tight, but we really need your input in getting everything up and running for this season. Please send uniform sizing details to wdhclubsecretary@gmail.com.
